Get ready world! We are about to take the blogging world by storm. There are a lot of sisters out there who have something to say, but they don’t have a “place” to say it. All of that is about to change. Look for some of the most powerful women in the country to soon comment on this blog. All subjects are open for discussion.
Sisters do have a lot to say and now is the time to say it. I was most perturbed during this election season about being told that I have to be either black or a woman.
As I am black and a woman every day, I am tired of hearing that yang. Speak to my issues, not my immutable traits.
Go Sister, Soul Sister. If anyone can rock women’s issues and voices, it will be my sister, Sidmel Estes-Sumpter.
You go girl! I’m just watching the coverage of the NIU shootings and wondering why this country allows guns to be sold. So many lives lost so soon! It’ a real shame! It doesn’t have to be this way!!!!
Now the world will know what those of us who have known you for years were already aware of: You’ve got an opinion; you have no fear of expressing it and you know lots of women who feel exactly the same way.
It does not surprise me that you continue to blaze new trails, Sid. Bravo!!
Barack reminds me of Bobby Kennedy, with his ability to excite young people. It is thrilling to see a candidate who not only generates such strong supports, but is intergenerational and “cross-ethnic” in his appeal. America is clearly ready for a new day, and the world will shift when Obama is president and speaks for our nation.
Congrats Sidmel. How refreshing to have the opportunity to address real issues. I think people are ready for a Black president. The question is, are they ready for a (smart, sharp, articulate, well-coiffed, put-to-gether etc.) Black first lady? Michelle, as they say, takes no tea for the fever…
Yes this election is touching the very young. On Primary Day, my 7-year-old son argued with me in the voting booth about my candidate selection. Didn’t realize he was following campaigns quite that closely. I told him he’d be able to make his voice heard in 10 years.
